Head of Systems Development

Partial Remote Based (1-2 days office based)
An ambitious SME consisting of 3 group companies operating within the telecoms field. Having grown over the past 9 years, the company is now looking to invest in a Head of Systems Development for their VoIP and SMS development programmes, and you will be initially working with outsource developers to enhance backend code to ensure current systems are operating effectively, moving on to developing new systems from scratch to enhance the overall business offering.
This business is looking for a technically advanced hands on Developer who can lead on projects and communicate to both technical and non-technical directors in terms of what the current state of code is, and what improvements can be made.
Key Responsibilities –
1.Contributing to overall development of systems and enhancement of backend code (VoIP / SMS)
2.Defect management and systems testing
3.Managing project delivery timescales
4.Monitoring outsourced development resource quality and delivery
5.Communicating technical principles to non-technical stakeholders
6.Contributing to enhancement of business offering through upscaling of business systems architecture
7.Developing roadmap for systems development, focusing on realistic key objectives
In order to be effective in this role, you should be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and experiences in the past 5 years of your professional development –
• Worked within the telecoms industry in a systems development role
• Exposure to VoIP and SMS systems
• Experience developing in C / C++ / Java/ PHP / MySQL
• Experience with Cloud based technology
• Strong project management skill-set
• Managing internal or outsourced Dev resource
• Ideally worked with telecoms software including – Yate & Kannel SMS
