Accountant/Senior Accountant (Ref: J9431) Permanent

Goldhawk are currently working with a Bexley based firm of accountants who are looking for an Accountant/Senior Accountant. This appointment is due to growth and expansion and would suit an experienced accountant with a solid career history of working within the profession. They are looking for someone to support the Partner of a small firm established about 5 years ago with 5-10 staff. This would suit an enthusiastic individual who would like to join a friendly practice striving for growth through recruitment and through the training and development of their more junior members of staff.

The ideal candidate will be confident in the provision of all areas of accounting and taxation. They will be able to run a portfolio of clients and take on the supervision of the team, reviewing work and supporting them in their development to allowing the Partner to spend more time developing business. They will be pro-active and will actively take part in streamlining the systems and processes within the practice and will engage in other business development activities. They will be able to provide the supervision and support that our trainees require.

You will be responsible for:
• Preparation and review of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and Limited Companies
• Preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, rental portfolios and individuals.
• Preparation of Corporation Tax returns for companies
• Preparation, review and submission of VAT returns
• Processing of weekly/monthly payroll schemes for a portfolio of clients
• Ad hoc projects as they arise, to include HMRC Let Property Campaign disclosures, Inheritance Tax reviews etc.

They are looking for someone who is capable of self-motivation and able to work well on their own as well as being able to develop staff who need support and training. You will be a strong communicator who can work in a busy and challenging environment. The firm are looking to continue with their growth and will encourage training and development. Strong systems skills are also desired, they use cloud software, Xero, Quickbooks, etc. They are looking for a strong all-rounder as they have a varied client base and are keen to attract a team player who can take the lead and be an integral part of the firm. If you have some audit experience this would be seen as beneficial.

They can be flexible on the level of appointment and the salary range reflects that.
